Frequently Asked Questions...

Radio UFS may be history, but the site is still here!

We entered the airwaves on the 26th of Februrary 1995 and left the air on the 26th of February 2006. That is to say, we're nolonger operating as a station and this site is historical. Sad, but true. We've chosen not to change the text below, but now you know that you can't tune us in anymore.

A FAQ is a list of the questions everybody ask all the time. In order not to answer the same very question every time, we here give you the answers in advance. :-)

Q: Why is your homepage never updated?

A: Hmm... Time in Internet is short. Time in real life is no better. We simply don't have the time to keep daily updates on both the swedish and english homepage. Remember that we're a non-profit organization.

The English homepage exists as our International presence.

Q: I can't tune in your station where I live!

A: Our broadcasts are only heard in Stockholm.

Q: How many listeners do you have?

A: Being something that most easily could be classified "studentradio", we don't have the amount of listeners that many commercial stations have. Without having done a market research, we know we have a small amount of faithful listeners.

Q: What music can I hear on your station?

A: Hot AC... Check out what that means!

Q: Whos talking.

A: Almost everyone of the team. Your host is Erik Zalitis and Andreas Yanellos presents the Internettip and the music. We also get good scientific lectures from people like Anders Sandberg, Jenny Mångs, Mikael Johansson and Henrik Öhrström.

Q: Why... Ohhhh.. Why call yourself RUFS?

A: Actually we don't.

Originally it was a joke about the chieftechnicians hairstyle (Or the LACK of of it!)  "RUFS" in Swedish means a very wild hairstyle that never seen a comb !!! But in this case its short for "Radio Unga Forskare Stockholm". Nowadays it's Radio UFS, not RUFS!!!

Q: Got news?

A: Check the schedule!

Q: What does it cost to do radio?

A: Enough to travel to Bahamas!

Q: I wanna join!

A: Sure. Please make sure that you live in Stockholm / Sweden or have such an amount of money that you can fly to Stockholm every week!

Note to Gareth Mitchell : you're always welcome to join us, but learning Swedish would then be a good idea :-)
