What was Radio UFS?
But that is not all. We have an active team of lecturers making new lectures available for our listeners every week. Everything can be heard with "Real Audio" right here on the web. Radio UFS is short of "Radio Unga Forskare Stockholm". Which roughly is translated by "Radio Young Scientists Stockholm." Why do we broadcast? Radio is a fast way to reach the area you work in with information. Its cheaper than to send papers to potential members. Our mission is also to make science available to our listeners on the web and over the airwaves. Don't forget the music! Broadcasting science doesn't mean you can't play music as well. Radio UFS is a CHR station. That means we play the current hits, but sometimes go back to old 80's classics. We aim for people between 15-25 to listen, and we feel that it have worked out pretty well. Musiceditors are Erik Zalitis and Andreas Yannelos. The history - creation of a station: The project started 1993 at the Young Scientists Federations national congress by Erik Z and Magnus Abrante. The project didnt get much attention at that time. Spring 1994 the project went underway again but was stopped as the radiostation we were ment to broadcast from (Radio Sydost) were thrown out from their studio. (Couldn't pay their bills) August 1994 we restarted the project at the Young Scientists Stockholm's open house congress. The dream came true 1995 as Radio UFS got a home on the station "Radio Sydväst 88,9 MHz". (NOT to be confused with Radio Sydost 101,1 MHz) Our very first programme went on the air the 26th of February 1995. The pioneers were: Erik Zalitis, Magnus Abrante, Pamela Strandberg, Anders Sandberg, Mårten Svantesson, Kristian Kjeldsen and Mats Björklund. August 1995 Radio UFS extended its programservice to 3 hours as "Fredagspasset" (Could roughly be translated by "The Friday show".) The extension was a part of the radioteams cooperation with a Young Scientists contemporary schoolsproject called "the G-project". G is as in "Grundskola" or "Contemporary school". Nowadays Radio UFS is equipped with modern technology. The non-live broadcasts uses the computerbased technology. We still broadcast the live shows from Radio Sydvästs studio in Hägerstenåsen. We inform of everything within Unga Forskare (Young scientists) Radio UFS - our message is knowledge! |
